Strategically located between Bedford and Cambridge in the CaMkOx Arc and with frequent trains to London and Peterborough, the historic market town of Biggleswade has been identified as hub for growth and expansion.
With a compact centre, river frontage and semi-rural character, the town has many assets that combine to create a strong sense of place and identity.
However, like many traditional settlements, it also faces the challenges of traffic congestion at peak times and the gradual decentralisation of town centre activities, which, unless checked, could impact the potential for new development and the character of the existing settlement.
We have been working with the Town Council, local authority and stakeholders to develop an overarching Place Shaping Strategy that can be used to guide sustainable growth, identify catalyst projects and inform the emerging Neighbourhood Plan.
